Pownal Rec League Constitution

Games:
- All games will be played on Sunday & Wednesday nights at the Pownal Sports Centre.
- Games will consist of two 26-minute straight time periods
- The only exception is the last two minutes of the second period will be stopped time if the score is two goals or less.
Player Eligibility:
- All players must be 18 years of age or older to play in the Pownal Rec League. The only exception to this rule is a player coming out of Midget/U18 that is only 17 years old.
- There will be no “carded” players in the Pownal Rec League. Ex. UPEI, Jr. A, B, or C or current minor hockey players. The only exception to this rule is for a team that cannot find a goalie. This would have to be approved by the league.
- A player must play at least 10 regular season games to be eligible for playoffs.

Playing Rules:
- The Pownal Rec League abides by the playing rules of Hockey PEI & Canada.
- All teams must have matching jerseys and proper helmets that fasten.
- Any player showing signs of drinking alcohol can be removed from the game.
Penalties:
- All minor penalties will be three minutes straight time.
- All major penalties will be seven minutes straight time.
- Players receiving three minor penalties in one game will receive a game ejection.
- Fighting, a player who fights will receive a five-game suspension for the first fight. The second fight of the year results in the suspension for the rest of the current season.
- Verbal abuse of an official or scorekeeper will be an automatic two-game suspension, second offence will be a four-game suspension, third offence will be the rest of the current season.
- All major penalties will carry an automatic two game suspension excluding the game it occurred in.
- All match penalties will be a minimum of three game suspension. A league meeting can be called, with each team representative present. Meeting will discuss the harshness of the incident and could impose further suspension or remove the player from the league.
